Xiaomi Mix Flip Receives Certification in China With Satellite Connectivity

[ad_1]

Xiaomi was one of the first Chinese smartphone brands after Huawei to launch a foldable smartphone under the Xiaomi Mix Fold series. It was later followed by Oppo, Honor, Vivo, and even OnePlus. Unlike some of its competitors, the company had launched some horizontally folding smartphones and didn’t release a clamshell-like foldable smartphone until today. However, this will change soon as the company prepares the ground for a device dubbed Xiaomi Mix Flip. The device in question had been certified in China with 5G connectivity and support for satellite connectivity.

Xiaomi Mix Flip Has Satellite Connectivity confirmed in the Certification

It is not the first time we heard Xiaomi is working on a flip-style foldable smartphone. Back in September, reports emerged talking about a flip phone that would arrive to complement the Mix Fold lineup. The device in question will be dubbed Xiaomi Mix Flip and will arrive alongside the Mix Fold 4 at some point later this year.

Gizchina News of the week

Today, the Xiaomi Mix Flip has been certified in China by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The listing confirms the phone will have 5G connectivity, but that’s not a big surprise nowadays. The big surprise is it is confirmed with satellite connectivity. It means Xiaomi’s upcoming foldable will embrace the technology that allows it to send emergency alerts, make emergency SMS, or even call through the use of a satellite network. This allows the user to send messages even in remote places without cellular networks.

The device will run Android and we can conclude it has HyperOS running atop. The new certification does not bring new details about the specs. However, Xiaomi’s upcoming foldable flagships are set to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. They are also expected to include a triple-camera setup. Despite their obvious difference in build, the Xiaomi Mix Flip will likely borrow the design language adopted by the next Xiaomi Mix Fold.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold lineup is exclusive to the Chinese market. We can only wait and see if the Xiaomi Mix Flip will have the same fate. We expect the company to share more details about the phone in the coming months.
