Realme has unveiled the Realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+ yesterday. We’ve already covered the 12 Pro+, which you can read all about from this link. Now, let’s take a closer look at the 12 Pro.
As you can guess, the Realme 12 Pro is a slightly downgraded version of the Pro+. But it’s still offering a great set of specs, cameras, and displays for the price. Speaking of which, the phone starts at INR25,999, which is around $310. And let’s not forget to mention that the design of the 12 Pro and 12 Pro+ is the same.
A Closer Look at the Realme 12 Pro
The Realme 12 Pro isn’t just another mid-range smartphone. Instead, Realme is making a statement with this release. It proves that mid-range phones can look elegant and offer good performance at the same time. Let’s take a deeper dive into details to understand what the device really has to offer:
A High-end Display
One of the big highlights of the Realme 12 Pro is that it has a 6.67-inch screen that features curved sides. It’s an OLED panel that supports a 120 Hz refresh rate and up to 240 Hz touch sampling rate. These will make the UI experience buttery smooth. Realme enhances the viewing experience Pro-XDR, which the company says can bring your captures to life.
Basically, with the Pro-XDR turned on, you get to see the photos captured by the device with a higher dynamic range. In addition, the screen of the Realme 12 Pro has 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. This means the panel is capable of offering true-to-life and rich color production.
Other than that, the screen of the 12 Pro has TUV Rheinland certifications. Paired with 2160 HZ Dimming, the display of the smartphone can deliver a comfortable viewing experience in dimmed lighting conditions.
On that note, the local peak brightness of the display is 950 NITS. This high brightness rating means that you don’t need to struggle while reading texts under harsh lighting. Other screen specs of the Realme 12 Pro include a 93% screen-to-body ratio and a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio.
Superior Craftsmanship
You won’t be able to tell whether the Realme 12 Pro is a mid-range device or a flagship. The company has partnered with Ollivier Savéo, a luxury watch designer, to make the back out of the device look like one of the finest timepieces. In other words, the back design of the Realme 12 Pro takes inspiration from luxury watches.
Gizchina News of the week
The color options complement the luxury watch-like design of the Realme 12 Pro. It’s available in Submarine Blue and Navigator Beige; both complement the golden fluted bezel on the back.
Capable Mid-range Internals of Realme 12 Pro
Under the hood, the Realme 12 Pro features the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. It’s the latest entry in the 6-series chipset, which has a clock speed of 2.2 GHz. Paired with the Adreno 710 GPU, the phone is well capable of handling most of the things you throw at it. Just don’t expect to see flagship-grade performance in resource-intensive apps and games.
As for the memory, Realme has paired this mid-range SoC with 8 GB of RAM. While a good number of mid-range phones have started to offer more than 8 GB, it’s still good enough for most apps and games. Storage-wise, the phone is available in two variants: 128 GB and 256 GB. It would’ve been nice to see the 12 Pro come with a microSD card slot.
Nonetheless, Realme 12 Pro integrates a 3D VC system to ensure that the internals offer stable performance. With a cooling area of 3394 square mm, this vapor cooling system can keep the motherboard and all the major components cool in heavy loads.
Pro-grade Camera System of Realme 12 Pro
The camera setup of the Realm 12 Pro is special. It features a 50 MP primary camera on the back, which is the Sony IMX882 sensor. It features OIS and is paired with a 32 MP Sony IMX702 sensor that can offer 2x zoom. The last sensor on the back is an 8 MP ultrawide sensor. As for the front, it houses a 16 MP selfie shooter.
Battery, Charging, and Other Features
A 5000 mAh battery powers the internals of the Realm 12 Pro. This battery can charge at 67W, which is a downgrade from the 100W charging ability of the predecessor. But Realme says that it can get the battery from 1% to 50% in 19 minutes, which is still great.
Other than that, the Realme 12 Pro comes with a dual audio setup. This configuration makes the phone offer stereo sound. It also supports Dolby Atmos in delivering true hi-res audio. You don’t need to worry one bit when it starts to rain, as the phone has an IP65 rating.
Other highlights of the device include a tractile engine for high-quality haptics, an antenna array matrix for better cell reception, and a fast in-display fingerprint scanner.
